Basic Specialist Training Scheme in Psychiatry

College of Psychiatry of Ireland approved basic specialist rotational training scheme for doctors who plan to pursue a career in psychiatry

The scheme provides comprehensive supervised Hospital and Community based experience in Adult In-patient, Out-patient and Day Hospital services.  Specific sub-specialties include Consultation Liaison including Neuropsychiatry, Rehabilitation, Substance Misuse, Eating Disorders, Child & Adolescent, Intellectual Disability Services, Later Life and Forensic Psychiatry.

The SJOG/SVUH/UCD Basic Specialist Training Scheme in Psychiatry is delivered via the following clinical sites:

General Adult Psychiatry

  1. Saint John of God Hospital, Dublin
  2. Cluain Mhuire Service, Dublin
  3. Saint Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin
  4. Newcastle Hospital, Wicklow
  5. Waterford regional Hospital, Waterford
